Word, Excel, Powerpoint App for iPad

So what does Quickoffice do? As the name suggests, it allows you to create and edit files in Microsoft Office formats. Not only can you can create, open, and edit Word documents using Quickword and crunch numbers in Excel spreadsheets using Quicksheets, you can also open and view — but not edit — PowerPoint files. (News flash: The developers say the editing capability will be added in an update.)

Your editing tools are limited compared to what you get in desktop productivity suites for Mac and PC — especially the real Microsoft Office suite — but the basic formatting tools in this iPad app will be enough for the vast majority of on-the-go edits that most users are likely to want to make.

Tips
You can open Microsoft Office documents that are macro-enabled as read-only files, but you can’t edit them. If you plan to edit your Office files on your iPad, be sure to use the common file formats (DOC, DOCX, TXT, XLS, XLT, and XLTX).

That’s a really clever way of jumping from page to page in Quickoffice. Touch and hold the screen on the far edge of the right margin, and you get thumbnails of each page. Just slide your finger down the screen until you get the page you want. When you lift your finger, you go straight to that page. It’s really nifty.

Another nice feature is the Multi-Edit Toolbox, which allows you to make several changes at one time to selected text (font, size, color, and paragraph formatting).
