Admittedly, one glance at the price is enough to deter most casual app buyers, but if you require a means to bridge the gap between home and o ce, then this is perfect. The app works in tandem with a desktop app that you can download from the Dataviz site, enabling you to drag documents into a desktop folders, synch your desktop to your iPad, and then view and work on the same documents on your portable device. It is capable of syncing more than one desktop to the app, making it a convenient means of porting documents between home and work while using your commuting time to work on them.
The app supports the Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, and any changes you need to make can be applied to the iPad versions of the documents, saved, and then with a quick synch back to your desktop the amended and updated files will be transported back to where they originated from.
The e ffectiveness of Documents To Go Premium isn’t con fined to just synced folders either, as you can also view and manipulate supported attachments sent via the default Mail app, MS Exchange and Google Mail. Despite such a seemingly relentless gush of positivity however, Documents To Go Premium isn’t perfect. Conspicuous by its absence is a spell checker, and we did experience some syncing issues (the desktop and iPad just seemed to lose their connection to each other periodically), but certainly the latter problem seems to have been addressed with the 4.0.2 update.
