1: Choose a language
Tap the top-left language to pick the language you want to translate from, and the top-right one to pick the language you want to translate to. Recent languages will be displayed at the top.

2: Translate text
Tap into the box below the languages and type the phrase or word you would like translated. Press Go when you’re done and your phrase will be instantly translated in your chosen language.

3: Translate voice
For a slightly less accurate but quicker translation, you can dictate by tapping the microphone icon, regardless of iPad model. You can amend any errors in the text box afterwards.

1: Check the lessons
After choosing your language, tap the Lessons icons in the bottom-left corner and then tap on a lesson to begin it. There will only be one unlocked, but you can buy

2: Learn in order
Tap Play to hear a conversation in a foreign language. By using the blue bar to the right, you can scroll through the lessons, gradually understanding more about the conversation.

3: Build vocabulary
Whenever you see a word underlined in blue, tap it and you see will several different options that would work in that sentence. Tap one of these options to hear it pronounced by a native speaker.

Simply tap one of the icons at the main menu and you will be offered a variety of flashcards. Tap it again and the words will be spoken in your chosen foreign language.

In each section are locations and scenarios where phrases will come in handy. There are over 500 available and you can also select favourites that you use often.

3: The devil in the detail
Each flashcard shows the English and foreign words printed plus an image so there’s no mistaking what you’re asking for. The interface is simple, but it works really well.
